American Impressionist
Closing reception: Aug 2nd, 6-8pm Show runs June 1st-Aug 3rd @ Cole Noble Gallery I’m an American Impressionist. My work is grounded in a deep appreciation of the Indiana family farm and the Midwest. Indiana has a great multitude of legacies; agriculture is the one I’m familiar with. Many hot summer days and cold winter evenings working with my father, grandfather and brother, inform scenes of rural farm life, and the seasons that flow around it. I have the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and paint. Indiana is where everywhere else is compared to, because it is home, and it is the place where I belong. The rolling forested hills of southern Indiana, dotted by old farmsteads, is where I grew up. It is equaled in splendor by the plains of central and northern Indiana. Tree lines lay in the distant under thick atmosphere and over deep soil. These are the motifs that I point at and say “Look at the beauty of this place.” Most people see it when you show them. Come out and see the art. Meet me and enter for a chance to win a painting. It will be an entertaining evening with drinks and hors d'oeuvres. See you then! |
A New Field Sown
Opening reception: Feb 8th, 5-8pm Show runs Jan 31st-Feb 27th @ Off Broadway Gallery Take a visual journey on a path newly cleared, with the opportunity to see how a creative line of work is sown. Gathered for display is a group of award winning paintings from late last summer and fall, and the new line of work it inspired. Come out and see the show, there will be great art, wine and appetizers. If there is something you like, you can buy a painting to support Southside Art League and the artist, Roy Boswell. ‘Tilling New Fields’ is an exhibit showcasing plein air paintings and studio work. The plein air paintings have an American Impressionist sensibility, inspiring the stylized and graphic style of the studio work. Beautiful colors fill the canvas with Midwestern motifs. There will be an opening during the evening of Feb 8th. The show will open the last day of Jan and run for the month of Feb at the Off Broadway Gallery (South Side Art League) in Greenwood, Indiana. Roy’s painting will be on display in the Featured Artist gallery space. He began teaching classes at the South Side Art League in the fall and is currently holding class in the winter/spring session as well. If you are interested in learning to or improve your painting skills, come meet the artist. |
